What in the world is an FOD?
In a poem my cousin wrote, that she wants me to illustrate, she mentions an FOD. What is that???
here’s the poem:
DOUBLE LAUNCH
Blue crisp sky
Heaven’s gift
Time to fly
Spread your wings
Mother bird
Chief in charge
Please caution take
Remove FOD from face
No, no can’t make me
Wave on anyways
Snap of line/Airborne free
Lighted FOD downward go
Cigar formally in face
Took a trip down the hatch
What is the FOD?? Something in the Navy during the WWII(written for a man who served with my grandpa on a aircraft carrier during WWII)and I think the poem is referring to sending the plane off of the ship – so what is the FOD? can someone help me?? thanks!

On the runway or flight deck it’s Foreign Object Debris
When it causes damage to an aircraft it’s Foreign Object Damage
In this case it is Foreign Object Debris
Lighted FOD downward go the cigar is the lighted FOD
